Welcome!

Come join us for a week of fun and excitement as you help make special memories for the kids attending Mountaindale West Day Camp! Adult volunteers are critical to the success of our program. As an adult volunteer you get the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping our children and as a bonus, you ensure a spot in camp for your daughter with a discount on her registration. Non-Girl Scount member siblings are welcome. Everyone will have a great time and will want to return again next year!

Adult Volunteer Requirements

  • Volunteers must be willing to be at camp for the entire week in order to ensure that your Girl Scout has a spot at camp;
  • Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and must be registered Girl Scout members for the 2007-2008 membership year. (If you are not a registered Girl Scout member, contact Carol Loescher, our Volunteer Coordinator, at cnl@loeschercentral.com);
  • Volunteers must have passed a security clearance, performed by GSCRC, within the last three years. (If you have never had a security clearance performed or you know that your clearance was given more than three years ago, please contact Carol Loescher at cnl@loeschercentral.com);
  • Volunteer leaders of JUNIOR units should be able to commit to spending Thursday night with their unit;
  • Volunteers must attend all required training sessions for camp;
Non Girl Scout units for children of full-time volunteers (boys and girls) include: Widgets (3- and 4-yr-olds), Eagles (entering kindergarten), Falcons (boys entering 1st-3rd grade), Hawks (boys entering 4th –6th grade)

Registration Process

There are two ways to register for camp:

   1. Online at this site. (NOTE: You must register yourself BEFORE you register your camper in order to receive the discount on her registration.)
   2. Complete the "Adult Registration for Day Camp" form and "Health Form". Mail them to:

      Mountaindale West
      Carol (Orchid), Volunteer Coordinator
      3231 NW 126th Place
      Portland, OR 97229.

NOTE: This method of registration will not automatically give you a discount on your daughter’s camp registration. A refund will be given once all paperwork is complete and submitted.

New Leader Orientation

New Leader Orientation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 from 6:30 PM TO 8:00 PM at Terra Linda Elementary School. This orientation is required for all new adult volunteers to this day camp.

Other Training

Indoor Training will be on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Location: TBA. At this event, many preliminary plans will be made and PAs and leaders will have a chance to get to know each other.

Outdoor Training will be on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Mountaindale program center from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Please note -- First Aid training will begin as soon as the outdoor training meeting is over. This event is also used to help plan and get prepared for camp the coming week.
