PAIT 1 (Outdoor Skills)

All girls entering 6th grade or above in the fall of 2010 can register for the PAIT 1 (Outdoor Skills) Training unit. PAIT 1 (Outdoor Skills) Training is REQUIRED for girls that are planning on being a PA at Mountaindale West Day Camp.

PAIT 1 (Outdoor Skills) training will consist of Outdoor skills in cooking, basic first aid and basic skills needed for being a PA in the future.

No additional paperwork is required to be in this unit. Register online and choose the PAIT 1 option. Girl Scout Membership is required if camper is not currently a registered Girl Scout.

PAIT 2 (Program Aid in Training)

All girls entering 7th grade or above in the fall of 2010, who have not had prior training to be a PAIT will be eligible for the Program Aid-in-training 2 (PAIT 2) unit. (*Note: PAIT 1 (Outdoor Skills) training is waived for girls entering 7th grade or above in the fall of 2010. This is the only year this will be waived).

Being a PA is an amazing experience, but with it comes responsibility. The PAIT 2 unit is geared to preparing girls for being PA’s the year after and beyond. The training is intense and friendships made between fellow PAIT’s are strong and lasting.

The training teaches the girls about leadership and how to work with younger girls. They complete the "Girl Scout Program Aide Outdoor Specialty Training". Two days during the week of camp, the PAIT 2’s are placed in units; first time is to shadow the PA’s in that unit and they will be able to observe what the role of a PA is like and then again to be the lead PA in that unit.

No additional paperwork is required to be in this unit. Register online and choose the PAIT 2 option. Girl Scout Membership is required if camper is not currently a registered Girl Scout.

IP - Interest Patch

All girls entering 6th grade or above in the fall of 2010, and who do not wish to train to be a PA at this time, can choose to do an IP. This unit will be a more indepth camp experience and is designed to meet the needs of older girls.

IP Unit Choices are Camping, Outdoor Survival and Wildlife. The most popular unit choosen by the girls will be the one that will run for the camp and will only be available if enough girls register for an IP unit.
